Review - The Darkest Secret by Gena Showalter

Though the book started out slow for me (I was bored for about the first 200 pages) the middle and ending totally rocked!

I'm a huge fan of the LOTU and I've been dying to hear more about Amun and learn how Haidee could possibly redeem herself for killing Baden all those centuries ago. I love their psychic connection which enables him to speak. They have a shared past--a blood bond--which connects them on a profound level more than any other couple written so far in the series. They learn to trust each other--their sworn enemy--which makes their love all the sweeter with the obstacles in between them.

The author did a wonderful job expressing Amun's feelings and his love for his brothers. She also explained Haidee's reasons for doing the horrible things she did so well that anyone with a heart could easily forgive her. Haidee is honestly one of my most favorite heroines from the series.

All my questions were answered by the end of the book except one. I'm still a little confused with how Haidee came back to life after dying without Hate inside her (was it because of the ice in her veins, courtesy of Themis???). Even Zacharel was confused by this and for some reason he gave her Love, which I don't know why he did. Anyway, I'm hoping that might be better explained in the next book, The Darkest Surrender, which I'm starting tonight.

I can't wait to find out more about William's curse and the monsters he created (the Horsemen, seriously?!?). I sooo want him to accept Gilly and fall in love with her (and not have either of them die as the curse demands). They deserve a HEA!

I love the camaraderie between the guys and their devotion to their women. I even love when the men are fighting like at the end with Amun and Strider beating the crap out of each other. So awesome!!!

All-in-all, this is a kickass book! I love this series!!!
